About Time Volume

Explore video in 3D

Imagine stacking every frame like pages in a book. The picture provides width and height. Time gives it depth.

Cut straight through and you see a single moment. Tilt the cut and different parts of the image come from different times. In motion trails, moving people leave paths through the volume.

This is a space-time volume of 2D footage, not a reconstruction of the street in 3D.

Open a video from your device to explore your own moment. Video files, frames and filenames are processed in this tab and are never uploaded. The app does not store your video. Reloading returns to Shibuya. Your browser must be able to play the video; MP4 with H.264 is a good choice.

Use Motion focus to fade stationary areas and reveal paths through time. It compares nearby frames on your device, so camera movement and changing light can also appear as motion. Your setting carries into film previews and exports.
